Tried my hand at making cookies for Thanksgiving, they came out pretty good, made them swirled to look like fall leaves.

Ok, Baking fans this is my first Ironcupcake challenge ! the ingredient for this challenge was Apple , I had to use that ingrdient to come up with a recipe for a cupcake. I chose to make a carmel apple cupcake, it is a basic cupcake made with a few of my fasvortie ingredients like brown sugar and apple pie spice ( love the smell ) and of course apples ! The apples were coated them with flour , so they would not sink to the bottom, and folded them into the batter last. I was very happy with the result . I coated the top of my cupcakes with warm carmal made from brown sugar Yummy. !!!! they taste like a a carmel apple from childhood.

This month there was an extra submission to the MS Cupcake Club. It was the Banana Pecan Cupcake.
The recipe called for Cake Flour, this was the firs time that I ever used the same. The cupcakes came out nice and light and fluffy you can tell by the pictures below.
As I was reading the recipe I noticed that it indicated that these cupcakes would be good at anytime of day without frosting. That is the approach that I took after tasting the batter, it reminded me of my banana bread that I make on a regular basis, except lighter and fluffier but tasted just as good. So I decided that I would skip the frosting and after they came out of the oven, I would sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar. You can eat them anytime of day and I have gotten rave reviews from my family and co-workers.
My take on these delicious cupcakes is make them and call them muffins, then you can eat them anytime of the day!!!!
Happy Baking !!

I did 2 new things this week, the first I made mexican paste slightly different from gumpaste, however it seems more fragile to me ,then gumpasteis . i had a lot of breakage with respect to the butterflies that I made with mynew patch work cutters. You can find them at
http://www.globalsugarart.com/ I would however like to purchase a how to book for the patchwork cutters I thnk I might be doing somethng wrong..
I also attmepted to paint with on these butterflies although the loook rather large in the pictures they are really quite small. The first one I will post is just a red butterfly which did with pearl dust you can tell form the picture but it gave a nice pearlized finish. The second I used foodcoloring and lemon extract, it came out ok , put I need to work on my painting skill a bit. My mother had great painting skills so hopefully some have rubbed off on to me. The third on it a mix of painting and pearl dust this came out the best out of all 3 Ithink although it is only one wing , they are fragile.
That is all for today
Have a great long weekend I intend to .

Hi everyone
Today decided to try Mexican Paste a try, I had been told it would be better to use in a 3-D mold which I purchased a few weeks back. I finally got around to making it , I got the recipe from globalsuagrart.com which is a site I visit often. The only thing I changed was that I used gum text instead of Gum Tragacanth , I read good and bad reviews about subsuituing it for gum tex so we will see what happens, you are suppose to let it "cure" overnght .
We will have to see what happens. Below is the recipe

Mexican Paste Recipe
This it the paste that Marion Frost of Patchwork Cutters recommends to use with all her Patchwork Cutters. We do not recommend gumpaste for use with Patchwork cutters.
8 ounces (2 cups) 10x powdered sugar
3 teaspoons Gum Tragacanth -Buy Here
6 teaspoons cold water (plus or minus a teaspoon depending on your sugar)
Blend together 10x sugar and gum tragacanth in a bowl. Add water and mix with a heavy spoon until most of the sugar is absorbed. Pour onto a clean work surface and knead, picking up the extra bits of moist sugar as you knead, until the dough is smooth and pliable. Place in a sealed plastic bag and place that bag into another sealed bag. Leave overnight on the counter to cure. DO NOT REFRIGERATE! The paste will be very hard the next day. Break off a small piece and knead until soft before using.
You can keep Mexican Paste for up to 10 days as long as you knead it every 2-3 days. If you want to keep it longer, it freezes very well. Do not refrigerate Mexican paste

Chocolate Salted Carmel Mini Cupckes
Well I started making Martha Stewarts Chocolate Salted Carmel Mini Cupcakes on Wednesday made some mini's but they did nto come out weel, so off to the garbage they went . I started over today and decided that I would make regular cupcakes, I followed the recipe and got 20 out of it. Then I made the carmel, the only trick I used was to use my Wilton choclate melting pot then I did not have to wait for the choclate to cool to add it to the frosting. All and all my cupcakes came out great !
